Yes. That is exactly what they did. They are brilliantly crafty bastards! You see, they announced the exact minute the EQII beta apps were going up. I thought this was odd, but their masterplan all comes together now. You see, anyuzer.com is hosted on the same server with the most popular EQII fansite (eqii.com) where I’m an admin at. First the massive influx of people, crashed the SOE servers (as was expected) then where did they hammer next? That’s right, eqii.com, and so our server crashed which brought down anyuzer.com! Fiendish. I respect that…
Okay, so they don’t care that much, but still, indirectly they did crash anyuzer.com and I’m pretty damn sure if you look hard enough there’s an ass load of irony in there. It makes me laugh.
As for the actual beta deal itself. Well it was an interesting process, a bit smoother than the Blizzard debacle, but not much. It took most people an hour to get their apps through, which, for like a four or five page sign up, is a ‘bit’ on the long side. You know. Just a bit. I don’t really have much to comment about this in itself, except I’m truly baffled why companies give the exact date/time. I just don’t ‘exactly’ understand why. I’m starting to think they don’t care, but who knows.
Oddly, despite being an amazingly long winded person, I don’t really have much to say other than: “cool”. This is my big wild card of the year. I have no idea what type of game this is trying to be. I thought I used to know, but there have been so many changes I’m really interested to see the final result. As I’m an admin over at EQII.com (as well as Vanguardlive.com/gamewatchers.net and we used to own uxoo.com) hopefully I’ll score a beta slot. If so, maybe I can bribe Moorgard, to do something with me to give you guys who come from basically every game imaginable a more indepth view on the game. We’ll see. That’s just something I think it would be neat to do.
